ICC pull umpire Rauf from Champions Trophy..........

Pakistan umpire Asad Rauf has been withdrawn by the ICC from officiating in the upcoming Champions Trophy in England following media reports that indicated he was under investigation by Mumbai Police.

"In the wake of reports that the Mumbai Police are conducting an investigation into Asad Rauf's activities, we feel that it is in Asad's best interests as well as those of the sport and the event itself, that he is withdrawn from participating in the ICC Champions Trophy," Dave Richardson, the ICC chief executive, said in a statement on Thursday.

The ICC did not mention what the Mumbai Police were reportedly investigating Rauf for, and said it had no further comment to make. Rauf has been in India, officiating in the IPL, and so the PCB said it had "no role to play" and "nothing to do" with the development.

"He [Rauf] is an ICC umpire and was officiating in an Indian event with the consent and approval of the ICC, and whatever has happened it's on Indian soil," the PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf said. "We were only informed of his withdrawal by the ICC. We have no clue about what has happened and we have no control.

"In our next board meeting we are going to formulate a code for umpires and anyone found violating the code will be punished. So if BCCI wants our support we are happy to extend our help to them."

Iranian Scientist Claims to Have Built "Time Machine".........

An Iranian business mind seems to have brought the much yearned and dreamt of equipment- A time machine, into real time. Ali Razeghi, scientist from Tehran claims to have triumphed over time by building a machine that enables a user to fast track up to eight years in the future. He calls it “The Aryayek Time Travelling Machine” as the machine is registered with the Center for Strategic Inventions run Iran, by this name. 

Twenty seven years of age, Razaeghi claims that the machine uses a number of complex algorithms and predicts the future up to 5 (five) to 8 (eight) years with an accuracy of 98 percent. The machine apparently takes readings from the touch of hand and prints it accordingly. 

Ali is the managing director of the state’s Center for Strategic Inventions who had been working on this machine for ten years. The brilliant man already has 179 inventions in his name.

The machine is claimed to fit into a PC case and is meant to bring the future to the user. The most vital benefit of this device is that the government of Iran has the capability of predicting a military confrontation or even forecasting rise and fall of the currencies. The new device will also be able to predict the oil prices.

This device is meant to prepare the countries for various challenges that may dawn upon them in future. This device is expected to be marketed among states and individuals upon entering a stage of mass production.

According to Razeghi, this project of his wasn't welcomed by his friends and family as they thought Ali tried to play God with this invention. However, according to him, this device is no where against religious ethics. He says that Americans have been trying to create such a time machine for years wasting millions of dollars while he accomplished it with less than half the cost. 

Ali is hesitant in launching the prototype of the device as he suspects China of stealing the idea and producing it in manifold numbers.

Rahul Dravid to retire from IPL after season 6?...........

New Delhi: Indian cricket legend and Rajasthan Royals skipper Rahul Dravid could possibly retire from the Indian Premier League after the end of this season, as per media speculation.

Speaking to the media regarding his future in IPL, the 40-year-old said that he will sit with the team management and discuss about it. He added that they were looking for younger players for their squad.

"Let me finish this tournament and then I will sit down with the franchise to talk about my future and what they want to do. I am also mindful of the fact that we need to start looking ahead for younger players," said Dravid.

Rajasthan Royals who defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator will now lock horns with Mumbai Indians on Friday in qualifier 2 for a place in the final versus the Chennai Super Kings to be played at the Eden Gardens. 

'China hasn't used Pakistan against India'........

Beijing: China has played a positive role in the continuous easing of the relationship between India and Pakistan, said a state-run daily which added, "China has not played balancing strategy, using one country against the other." 

An article in the Global Times said that when Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his entourage flew from India to Pakistan on Wednesday for a two-day visit, his plane was escorted by six Pakistani Air Force JF-17 fighter jets after entering Pakistani airspace. 

Both Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso welcomed Li at the airport in person, which clearly reflects the 'all-weather' friendship between China and Pakistan, it said. "Developing friendly cooperation with both India and Pakistan, a pair of neighbours with many disputes, meets the interests of China, as well as the interests of the whole region," the article said. 

"China has played a positive role in the continuous easing of the relationship between India and Pakistan. China has not played balancing strategy, using one country against the other," it said. 

It noted that the ties between India and China have "grown broader while the Sino-Pakistan relations have gained depth". 

"Pakistan's importance to China has never been weakened despite its relatively turbulent political situation and slower economic development compared with China and India in recent years. Pakistan will play a pivotal role in China's South Asian strategy," it added. 

Global Times pointed out that "India has long been sensitive to the Sino-Pakistan relationship, even suspecting that China secretly helped Pakistan master nuclear technology. These suspicions are groundless but cannot easily be dispelled". 

It assured that China will not exploit Pakistan as a political card to play. 

"This should be considered part of the mutual understanding between China and India. However, India must accept and adapt to the enviable friendship between China and Pakistan, which is not aimed at any third party and has no upper limit. China cannot scale down this relationship merely because of India's feelings." 

The daily went on to say that the strategic value of the Sino-Pakistani relationship is also of regional significance. "It is conducive to the stability of western China and can also assist, rather than harm, the Sino-Indian relationship on the whole." 

It stressed that the urgent priority for Pakistan is the full realization of national peace and stability and developing its economy. "A prosperous, vibrant Pakistan will be an emerging market for a large number of Chinese companies. An economically vibrant Pakistan will be conducive to geopolitical balance in South Asia." 

The article emphasised that China's input in Pakistan must not be short-term or exploitative. 

"We must not underestimate Pakistan which is temporarily at an ebb. Efforts we put into Pakistan today will be strategically rewarded in future."

New Delhi: In the wake of recent spot-fixing controversy in IPL 6, Chennai Supper Kings skipper MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi finally broke her silence on Thursday through Twitter.

Suspected Chinese spy arrested from Dharamsala..........

Dharamsala: Police claimed to have arrested a suspected Chinese spy from McLeodganj here. 

Pema Tsering of Tibetan origin was arrested last evening on the complaint of Tibetan government's security agencies in Dharamsala, SP, Kangra, Balbir Thakur said. 

"We were keeping an eye on him after receiving a written complaint from Tibetan security agencies about his suspicious activity and on Wednesday evening, we arrested him," Thakur said. Police have recovered an Indian voter ID card and Aadhar card from Tsering's possession. 

Both the documents are registered at Chandni Chowk, Delhi. 

"We are verifying the validity of the documents recovered from his possession and whether he has obtained Indian citizenship as he possessed an Indian voter ID card," the SP said. 

According to police, Tsering entered India in 2009 via Nepal to reach Dharamsala a few days ago. 

Referring to Tibetan intelligence reports, Thakur said Tsering was a member of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China and also served in the People's Armed Police Force (PAPF) before coming to India. 

Police is probing the matter, he said. 

Dharamsala is the seat of the Tibetan government in exile and the Dalai Lama. 

IPL spot-fixing: Lalit Modi demands Srinivasan’s resignation....

New Delhi: In the wake of the recent spot-fixing controversies which has rocked the Indian Premier League (IPL), former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi on Wednesday slammed BCCI chief N Srinivasan and asked for his resignation.

Modi expressed his vent on his Twitter handle where he tweeted, “This spot fixing mess - is getting even worse. Srinivasan and family should immediately resign. They should be banned with immediate effect.”

The former IPL commissioner also criticised Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) CEO Gurunath Meiyappan, who happens to be the son-in-law of Srinivasan.

“If Guru is involved then Srini is indeed doing this for vested interest & his rubber stamps @ShuklaRajiv & Arun Jaitley should not be spared,” Modi wrote on his Twitter page.

Modi even didn’t spare BJP leader Arun Jaitley and IPL chief Rajiv Shukla claiming that all of them had ruined the game.

“Bcci president / Csk owner / control Ipl by putting dummy @ShuklaRajiv With legal supremo Arun Jaitley - trio who have ruined cricket,” he said.

Notably three Rajasthan Royals cricketers – S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested for their alleged role in the IPL spot-fixing fiasco. 

Sahara accuses BCCI of "betrayal of trust"

New Delhi: The Sahara Group on Wednesday accused the BCCI of "betrayal of trust" while rejecting claims of the Board that the IPL team was to be blamed for the controversy surrounding the franchise fee, leading to Pune Warriors pulling out of the Twenty20 tournament.

A day after Sahara Group pulled out its team Pune Warriors from IPL, citing BCCI`s decision to encash its bank guarantee following a prolonged financial dispute as the reason, the Board came out with its version saying that it has always wanted the impasse to end.

The BCCI said that the Sahara Group had not responded to the BCCI`s communication sent to the company after the deadline to pay the franchise fee due was over and it had no other option but to encash the bank guarantee.

Reacting to the BCCI`s claims, Sahara Group said the fact that the Board would encash the bank guarantee a day after Pune Warriors played their last match in the ongoing IPL was a case of "betrayal of trust"."... Mr Rajiv Shukla, Chairman IPL had a discussion with our Chairman, Shri Subrata Roy Sahara, in which our Chairman had suggested that we are ready to make the final instalment payment and is ready to exit amicably if IPL doesn`t reduce the franchisee fee. But Shri Shukla had assured our Chairman to hold on and said that he will resolve the issue and till then the bank guarantee will not be touched," Sahara Group said in a statement.

"Moreover, the IPL Chairman told Shri Roy not to take any action and that he will revert on future course to be taken. And we believed Shri Shukla at that time. The bank guarantee lapsed on 2nd May and nobody from BCCI went for encashment of bank guarantee which gave us more reasons to believe in the assurance made by Shri Shukla.

"However after our last match on 19th May, the next day (20th May) BCCI representative went to Bank for encasement of Bank guarantee. It was a clear case of betrayal of trust inspite of assurances of IPL Chairman. It is evident now, that BCCI had not moved on 2nd May for revoking the bank guarantee as this would have jeopardised their tournament," it said.

Sahara said that the company had been requesting the BCCI to revise the franchise fee for long as the number of matches had been reduced but to no avail.

"Sahara, from the first season of IPL, has been continuously requesting revision of the franchise fees. In the joint media statement given on 16th February, 2012, BCCI had stated along with Sahara that `BCCI and Sahara agree to start the arbitration proceedings initiated by Sahara through appointment of an arbitrator to address Sahara’s claim for reduction in franchisee fee for 74 matches`," Sahara said.

"Subsequently on various occasions Sahara had suggested names of imminent retired judges as arbitrators each of which were rejected by BCCI. BCCI engaged Sahara in prolonged correspondence, but failed to facilitate the arbitration process as agreed."

Sahara Group also claimed that there was no discussion on the amount of franchise fee to be paid in the last meeting with the BCCI in February.

"When we have paid the first instalment of franchisee fee in 2013 then too we have urged BCCI to resolve the issue of Franchisee fee before the second and final instalment of 2013 fell due," the company said.

"Despite our repeated urges and request and also BCCI`s joint statement along with us in February 2012 there has been no inclination from BCCI to resolve the issue. As for 21st February meeting there was no discussion on the amount of franchisee fees that is to be paid. It is totally incorrect."

In the BCCI`s assertion that it cannot enter into a private negotiation on the quantum of franchise fee, Sahara Group wondered whether the talks its chairman had with Board President as well as the IPL Chairman were not private negotiations.

"On the question of `private negotiations`, last year on February, when we have decided to pull out of IPL and Indian Cricket team sponsorship, the President of BCCI, IPL Chairman and other senior functionaries of BCCI met us, negotiated with us and a joint statement was worked out (in which they also had assured the resolution of the franchisee fee issue) ? was that not a private negotiation? Should the words given by the Chairman of IPL be treated as private negotiation?

"Sahara has always acted in accordance with Franchise Agreement and in fact, despite BCCI unilaterally reducing the number of matches, Sahara continued to participate in the league and make payments as per the Franchise Agreement." 

Sunrisers had a fantastic journey in IPL 2013: White....

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad`s skipper Cameron White feels his team enjoyed a "fantastic" journey in the Indian Premier League even though it could not make the final after losing to Rajasthan Royals in the `Eliminator`, here.

"It`s been a great effort from Sunrisers this season. We won our 10 games. We made the play-offs. It`s a new franchise, new players coming together. It`s been a fantastic and successful campaign," White told reporters at the post-match press conference last night after his team lost by four wickets.

"With the new auction coming up, don`t know who will remain here. There could be a new set of players, whatever the franchise decides on, we will be strong enough next year," he added.

Sunrisers had qualified for the play-offs after defeating Kolkata Knight Riders in their last league game. White said they fell short by 15-20 runs on a slow and dry Kotla wicket.

"We were 15-20 runs short of the total. We needed 150 on the board," he said.

"I was expecting a really flat wicket; the other night saw 190 being scored whatever the second innings score was. So, I was expecting something similar but this wicket had few more cracks and was probably quite dry.

"It was hard to score at times, I was happy to win the toss; we were just outplayed tonight and did not score in the middle areas which cost us the match," he added.

This edition saw Sunrisers clicking as a bowling unit, and it was their batting which let them down on most of the occasions.

"130 was a pretty good score as most of the time in Hyderabad; we scored close to it. There`s no doubt that batsmen needed to step up in some respect. Tonight`s was another example of that," White explained.

The Australian cricketer praised Brad Hodge for single-handedly guiding Rajasthan Royals into the second play-off with his unbeaten 29-ball 54.

"He played very well. He took the spin on initially and scored against our fast bowlers in the final overs. That`s what you expect from Brad Hodge; he is still leading the run-scoring in T20 cricket, isn`t he. He is pretty handy No. 7 batsman coming in. Hodge a world class player and played a great innings," he said.

White also came out in support of the team`s young domestic players even though did not inspire much confidence with their rather average performances.
