ATTITUDE.....

for future doctors.....

The formatThe paper-pencil test, proposed to be conducted on May 5, 2013, will have 180 objective-type questions, with 45 questions each from physics, chemistry, botany and zoology, based on the syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India. It will be three hours long and will have 1/4th negative marking.
Says Aakash Chaudhry, director of the coaching institute, Aakash, “Students can expect the subject/section-wise question distribution similar to the last AIPMT prelim exam conducted in 2012.”
What you should doAs the exam is being conducted by CBSE, thorough reading of the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) textbooks is must. “The content of NCERT books should be read completely and figures given should be understood minutely. Students must solve the exercises given in the NCERT books,” says Chaudhry. “NEET will have 180 questions to be solved in three hours so students should practice time management by writing mock tests. They would be required to solve each question in a minute, so practising 15-20 full length tests before taking the actual exam would help,” he adds. There are some differences in the CBSE syllabus for Class 11 and 12 compared to NEET so a close comparison of syllabi must be done. Reading through the previous years’ AIPMT papers will also help as NEET is expected to be of the same level.

India to launch seven satellites on February 25....

Chennai: The Indian space agency will February 25 put into orbit seven foreign satellites including an Indo-French collaborative satellite SARAL and thus earn much wanted revenue.
"The launch of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C20 (PSLV-C20) is currently fixed for February 25 evening," sources in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said.
"The rocket will blast off from the Sriharikota rocket launch centre (around 80 km from here) carrying seven satellites, totally weighing around 700 kg," a source in ISRO said.
According to ISRO, the rocket is expected to escape the earth's gravitational force at around 6 pm and inject the satellites in sun synchronous orbit (SSO) at around 785 km.
Officials said that assembly of satellites began on Thursday afternoon and is expected to be completed by Friday night.
After mating the satellites with the rocket, a full system check - rocket and satellites - will be carried out before fixing the heat shield, the protective gear that safeguards the satellites against damages when the rocket crosses the atmosphere.
The other four satellites to be carried by PSLV-C20 are BRITE and UniBRITE (both Austria), STRAND (Britain) and AAUSAT (Denmark).

Ganguly wishes Tendulkar good luck; welcomes Harbhajan's recall ahead of Australia series....

Sourav Ganguly wishes Sachin Tendulkar good luck ahead of Australia Test series
Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly on Monday welcomed the national selectors' decision to recall off-spinner Harbhajan Singh for the first two Tests of the upcoming series against Australia.

"It's a good decision to bring him back into the side. I've always been hopeful of Bhajji. But it's the skipper (MS Dhoni) whether he would play in the XI," Ganguly said at Eden Gardens after the CAB's working committee meeting.

Asked about Gautam Gambhir's omission, Ganguly said, "It's normal to be left out when you're not doing well. But I'm confident he would do well to make a comeback."

India might have lost to England in their last Test series at home, but Ganguly said the hosts would have the edge against Australia.

"Both the teams are going through a transition phase. India will have the slight home advantage to win the series. But it all depends how they utilise the conditions," he said.

"But you would have do well. It's important for the youngsters as India have a busy Test schedule ahead."

Wishing luck to Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly said, "Hope he does well for India, it's high time to fire up for him."

Ganguly also welcomed the selection of Bengal pacer Ashok Dinda who is yet to get his maiden Test cap.

"Dinda has been India regular in ODI and T20 formats. It's good to see him in Test squad. He needs to be accurate in the longer version of the game," he said.

Indian team arrives at NCA for training camp...

This Indian team perhaps doesn t care enough about winning or losing
Bangalore: Feb 16, 2013

The 15-member Indian squad, which landed in the city in batches along with the support staff, will start their three-day training camp from Saturday at National Cricket Academy (NCA) ahead of the first Test against Australia at Chennai, starting on February 22.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni and co. will leave for Chennai on February 19.

India coach Duncan Fletcher-led support staff has engineered a plot for harnessing the services of out-of-the-system 15 young and unknown raw talents to bowl to the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, over the next three days.

These raw talents, comprising of nine pacers and six spinners, have been picked from open trials at various cities before being sent to regional academies in Mumbai, Chennai and Mohali to whet their skills.

The programme is a brainchild of former NCA Director of Operations and the current chief selector Sandeep Patil.

These 'net bowlers' will take off weight from the Indian bowlers during the camp ahead of a challenging series against the Australia.

India squad: MS Dhoni (c & wk), Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ashok Dinda, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravindra Jadeja, Murali Vijay.

Facebook ‘sophisticatedly hacked’, but no data compromised...

Washington: Social networking giant Facebook has claimed that it was the target of hackers, but no user information was compromised during the attack.

The firm said in a blog post that last month, its security discovered that their systems had been targeted in a sophisticated attack.

The attack occurred when a handful of employees visited a mobile developer website that was compromised, Facebook added.

According to Fox News, the social network also said that ‘Facebook was not alone in this attack. It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well.’

Facebook's announcement follows recent cyber attacks on other prominent websites.

Twitter, the microblogging social network, said this month that it had been hacked, and that approximately 250,000 user accounts were potentially compromised, with attackers gaining access to information including user names and email addresses.

The world's most beautiful grounds.....

Guardian's cricket writers share with us memories of the most beautiful cricket grounds they've been to.

Andy Wilson says about Dharamsala's HPCA Cricket Ground:

A cricket ground where a bowler can accurately be described as running in from the Himalayas end is clearly an unusual addition to the international circuit. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association advertise their new stadium as "the most attractive ground in India", and that is not an idle boast. At an elevation of 4,110 feet, it will this weekend become the highest international ground in the world, and it is overlooked by the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas that includes snow-capped peaks three times higher. The air is crisp, Vultures and Eagles soar nearby, and the Dalai Lama has established his Tibetan Government in Exile just up the hill in Mcleodganj. Worcester it isn't.

‘Murder 3’ review: Watch if you have to, for Aditi Rao Hydari!...

‘Murder 3’ review: Watch if you have to, for Aditi Rao Hydari!
Re-making a film of some other language in Hindi – and declaring the same before the film is released is actually a very clever move that director Vishesh Bhatt had made. So in case one has watched the Spanish thriller ‘La cara Oculta’ (‘The Hidden Face’) – one might actually not want to go through the Hindi version of it. ‘Murder 3’, you guessed it correct, isn’t worth that much the effort. Debutant director Vishesh Bhatt has done a moderate job of directing this thriller – but it is an exact copy (okay, re-make!) of its Spanish counterpart. 'Murder 3', also, ends on a note which is a bit abrupt. The film has its share of thrills and chills in parts, but doesn’t really leave a dent on one’s mind eventually.
The music is a huge redeeming factor of the film with Mustafa Zahid (Roxen) and Pritam having done a job which deserves a pat on the back. All four tracks, ‘Teri jhuki nazar’, ‘Mat aazma re’, ‘Jaata hai tujh tak’ and ‘Hum jee laingay’ are extremely melodious and hummable, sing-able ones. The Bhatts have always had their music clicking for them, and ‘Murder 3’ is no exception.

In a nutshell, ‘Murder 3’ is a onetime watch, only if you are a huge fan of Aditi Rao Hydari. This film too, will probably fade into oblivion leaving only its music on people’s lips for a long time to come. Two out of five from me for ‘murdering love this Valentine’.

Petrol prices hiked by Rs 1.50/L, diesel by 45 paise/L...

New Delhi: Petrol price was on Friday hiked by Rs 1.50 per litre and diesel by 45 paise as state-owned oil companies exercised newly bestowed pricing freedom.

The first hike in petrol price in over three-and-a-half months and the second rise in diesel rates in one month exclude local sales tax or VAT and the increase for consumers at petrol pumps would be higher.

Petrol price in Delhi will go up by Rs 1.80 to Rs 69.06 per litre with effect from midnight tonight after including 19 percent VAT. Diesel rates would go up by 51 paise to Rs 48.16 a litre.

The increase in auto fuel prices, which come on back of a small hike in diesel price last month, is expected to fuel inflation that stood at three-year low of 6.2 percent in January.

Asteroid will buzz, miss Earth, unlike meteor...

Asteroid will buzz, miss Earth, unlike meteor
Cape Canaveral (Florida): A 150-foot asteroid hurtled toward Earth's backyard, destined on Friday to make the closest known flyby for a rock of its size. In a chilling coincidence, a meteor exploded above Russia's Ural Mountains just hours before the asteroid was due to zoom past the planet.

Scientists the world over, along with NASA, insisted the meteor had nothing to do with the incoming asteroid since they appeared to traveling in opposite directions. The asteroid is much more immense object that was expected to miss Earth by 17,150 miles, avoiding catastrophe.

But that's still closer than many communication and weather satellites; scientists insisted these, too, would be spared.

REAL MAP OF INDIA...

oday I am going to show you the real map of India. This is not the one which you found in your old geography and history books. But before this, I would like to give you some background. After getting the Independence from English rule, India and Pakistan fought their first war over Jammu and Kashmir in 1948. However due to intervention from United Nations, both agreed to a ceasefire. As a result of of this ceasefire, 1/3 of Kashmir went to Pakistan. After 1971 Indo-Pak war, under the terms of the Shimla agreement, the ceasefire line was renamed the Line of Control.
Now the situation is that both India and Pakistan claim Jammu and Kashmir as their integral part. However, according to BBC, India is ready to accept LOC as the international boundary but Pakistan is not ready to accept status quo in this controversial land.
India and Pakistan after 1948 ceasefire :
kashmir-1948
In 1962 China attacked India in Akshai Chin region of Kashmir and easily defeated Indian troops and captured a big portion of India.
kashmir-1962
The Indian-controlled part of Jammu and Kashmir became a state in 1974. The parts of Kashmir controlled by Pakistan, Azad Kashmir and the Northern Areas, have anomalous status as administered territories. In 1963 China and Pakistan delimited a boundary and gave control of Shaksam Valley to China.
Current Position in Kashmir ::
Kashmir-2011
This the current map of disputed areas of the region of Kashmir. India claims the entire erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir based on an instrument ofaccession signed in 1947. Pakistan claims all areas of the erstwhile state except for those claimed by China. China claims the Shaksam Valley and Aksai Chin.
India claims the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir but right now administers approximately 43% of the region, including most of Jammu, the Kashmir Valley, Ladakh, and the Siachen Glacier.
Pakistan controls approximately 37% of Kashmir, namely Azad Kashmir and the northern areas of Gilgit and Baltistan.
China controls 20% of Kashmir, including Aksai Chin, which it occupied following the brief Sino-Indian War of 1962, and the Trans-Karakoram Tract (also known as the Shaksam Valley), which was ceded by Pakistan in 1963.
India has officially stated that it believes that Kashmir is an integral part of India, though the Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, stated after the 2010 Kashmir Unrest that his government is willing to grant autonomy within the purview of Indian constitution to Kashmir if there is consensus on this issue.
Pakistan says that Kashmir is a disputed territory whose final status must be determined by the people of Kashmir. China states that Aksai Chin is a part of China and does not recognize the addition of Aksai Chin to the Kashmir region. Certain Kashmiri independence groups believe that Kashmir should be independent of both India and Pakistan.
It is really sad for India that today territory equivalent to the size of Kerala State of India is under Chinese occupation and had recently even objected to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh. The state of Arunachal Pradesh is claimed by China as part of South Tibet.
