Gilchrist: Challenging times for KXIP.......

Confident about having better squad this year, Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist said that he believes the team will do well in the sixth edition of the T20 Cricket League. "It's a new challenge now. We have got different set of players. In the last two seasons, we have been in running for semi-finals (berth) till (our) last game. We have strengthened the squad from last year," the 41 year old Gilchrist told a press conference here.

Gilchrist had earlier led Hyderabad to T20-League title in 2009 and was asked how he intends to resurrect the sagging fortunes of the KXIP, he replied,"There are plenty of options in the batting department including young Mandeep Singh, Paul Valthaty, Luke Pomersbach while presence of Parvinder Awana, Praveen Kumar, Manpreet Gony and Piyush Chawla strengthens the side's bowling."

Last year Gilchrist had indicated that he would bid adieu to T20-League as a player from the sixth edition. However, after talking to the team management, he decided to finish off as he still has one year of his contract left. Gilchrist had last season shouldered the responsibility of both the captain and the coach. But now, with the presence of Darren Lehman and WV Raman, he added, he will be looking forward to comeback as a player and and focus on that. "I am very excited and interested in enjoying a successful season."
