After using 3D holographic projection during the Gujarat assembly elections last year, Modi plans to ride on the technology to reach out to a national audience.
The CM's IT team is ready to roll with Modi projections being planned in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh in the next two months. The show will be taken to other states in a phased manner.
During the state polls, Modi addressed about 200 public meetings using the technology, which cost $10 million, as he tried to reach out to voters simultaneously in various constituencies. Besides multiplying the projection, it also minimises security threat.
"The content of the 3D broadcast will be different this time. It will be done from an Ahmedabad studio. Several teething problems faced during the assembly polls have been sorted out. The scale of the national 3D campaign will be much bigger," said a source close to the project.
While the finer details of the 3D show are still being worked out, Modi's team is also busy giving a new identity to 'NaMo Gujarat', a cable television channel launched ahead of the state polls. The channel will operate on a bigger scale and will be reoriented to cater to the national audience.
Modi's 3D campaign got a mention in the Guinness Book World Records for the most simultaneous broadcasts -53 locations across Gujarat on December 10, 2012.
