It can be noted that in the real time, post the Mumbai blasts, the director was spotted at the tragic area along with Ritesh Deshmukh, his father late Vilashrao Deshmukh and others. At that time speculations were running high that RGV had gone there on pretext of making a film out of the situation. But then at the film's music launch, the filmmaker clarified that he had not at all gone there with such intention. Clearing that thought, he had justified, "I had never intended to make a film at that point when I went there. What could I have possibly seen at that place what the media had not already been showing ever since? I never ever intended to make a film on those attacks when I went to The Taj.
Why now?
Now after all these years, after the whole truth has been uncovered by the investigators and by the virtue of an extensive knowledge I have gathered from various sources about the actual truths behind those attacks from both authorized and eye witness accounts, I developed a desire to film the actual story of those attacks the attacks began."
Nana Patekar plays the role of a Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Police based on the character of Mumbai supercop Rakesh Maria in the film. "I would not term The Attacks of 26/11 a film. It is something you can only experience - you will walk out of the theatre silently," Nana had stated in an interview.
The film's story received a fillip after the hanging of the 26/11 accused Ajmal Kasab after he was proven guilty. The climax of the film thus was changed and has been enabled for the audience to get their high and the Indian masses a shot of adrenaline.
The film was also screened at the prestigious Berlinale International Film Festival 2013.
'The Attacks of 26/11' is all set to hit the big screens on 1st March 2013.
