A much awarded actor, a giant-killer from Asia and the movie that could. Did you know these facts about this year's winners?
Argo, directed by Ben Affleck, is the fourth film to have won a Best Picture Oscar without a nomination for Best Director. The other three films are Wings, the first film to win Best Picture in 1928 and directed by William A Wellman; Grand Hotel, the only Best Picture to have nominations in no other category and directed by Edmund Goulding; and Driving Miss Daisy, directed by Bruce Beresford.
Daniel Day-Lewis now leads Hollywood's Best Actor winners list. He won this year for Lincoln and previously for My Left Foot and There Will Be Blood.
This is the second time Best Director Ang Lee has bested Steven Spielberg at the Oscars. In 2006, Ang Lee won for Brokeback Mountain, beating Spielberg who was nominated for Munich. This year they were nominated for Life Of Pi and Lincoln respectively.
Best Supporting Actor Christoph Waltz has a 100% strike rate at the Oscars. He has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor twice and has won both times - this year for Django Unchained and previously for Inglorious Basterds. Both have been films directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Best Actress Jennifer Lawrence, 22, is the youngest actress to be nominated for Best Actress twice. She won this year for Silver Linings Playbook and was previously nominated for Winter's Bone when she was 19. Kate Winslet was also nominated twice by the time she was 22, but one of her nominations was for Best Supporting Actress.
